Healthy Streets is an organisation that gives guidance on improving the health of streets for users, other than car owners, making them more pleasant places to live and dwell - by introducing better seating, adding greenery and flowers, creating mixed use cycle lanes, and upgrading streets and pavements for cyclists, pedestrians, and wheelchair users.

One particularly interesting ‘healthy streets’ project was for the City of London, showing people who rely on wheels, whether mobility scooters, wheelchairs or adapted trikes when navigating the streets and public transport. It was an eye opening experience to really understand what they face on a daily basis. It seems that not only are there many physical barriers that most of us are blissfully unaware of, the the biggest barriers are often obstructions created by fellow travellers.

Thanks to everyone who gave their time and energy to be included in these photoshoots and to Wheels for Wellbeing for finding willing volunteers.
